The Bible, Quran, and COVID-19 Vaccines

The Bible, Quran, and COVID-19 Vaccines

"This volume of the BiAS/ ERA series chooses a multi-religious approach to the religio-cultural aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the attempts to overcome it by vaccination. The book includes contributions focusing on African Traditional Religion, several branches of Christianity in Africa, and Islamic denominations. In contrast to other volumes, BiAS 37/ ERA 12 is not limited to a specific country - not even to the African continent. It gathers papers from the international and multi-religious workshop "COVID-19 and Religion" (November 2021, University of Bamberg) and some additional articles. The contributions to BiAS 37 focus on the vaccination debate. "Why should God, Scripture, and Church be against vaccination?" is the main question, and there are some indications that social and political factors that regulate the cultural application of religion might be more important for vaccinophobia than faith itself."

Electoral Politics in Zimbabwe, Vol II

Volume two of Electoral Politics in Zimbabwe: The 2023 Election and Beyond argues that research into Zimbabwe’s politics is multifaceted and topical, particularly because for more than two decades now, this Southern African state has been dogged by multiple problems including hyperinflation, drought, escalating poverty levels, extremely high unemployment rates and political instabilities. The volume’s overall goal is to ignite intellectual discussions and practical action towards turning the political wheels that have been in place for decades. The first segment examines the interface between gender and electoral politics in Zimbabwe. The second part discusses the role of the media in Zimbabwe’s electoral politics. The third section reflects on the role of traditional leaders and religious discourses in Zimbabwe’s electoral politics. The book will be a key resource to colleges, universities and organisations in Zimbabwe, the Southern Africa region and even beyond.

Beautifully illustrated in colour, this new series of pocket guides are more than where and how-to books, although they all give essential information for travellers. They provide a wealth of concise information on the areas they cover, giving a chapter in each book on the subject's geology, paleontology, archaeology, climate and history. Bvumba is the beautifully mountaineous region of eastern Zimbabwe. Sections include the flora and fauna, botanical gardens, golf, walks and drives. The Hwange guide covers the National Park, mammals, birds, trees and shrubs, reptiles, and butterflies; and also has a checklist for mammals, birds, trees and shrubs. The guide to Kariba tells the story of Operation Noah, the rescue of the animals when the lake was damned; and there is a section of Matusadona National Park, on the southern side of the Lake. There are sections also on mammals, reptiles, fish, birds, butterflies and insects, and checklists on mammals, birds, trees and shrubs.
