There is a hideous disease that has infected humanity at a startling depth. It is cancerous in its nature, for it literally eats away the essence of living. When you know the truth about this disease, you are swept away by the terribleness of its destruction. It is the worst of all plagues. Everyone has, or has had, this disease. I am talking about the terrible disease of the carnal mind.It is the opposite of the mind of Christ. It is enmity against God. This mind is in constant war against the Divine will. The focus of this mind is self. A single ounce of this carnal mind is like an ounce of cancer. if you allow it to remain, it will eat its way to your vital organs. Death is inevitable if you tolerate one bit of self-centeredness. You must not tolerate, train, or ignore it. The carnal mind must come to a cross and die! This is the dynamic of the message Jesus is giving to His disciples.

From forward by Dr. William Greathouse: "In these pages, Stephen Manley shares the gleanings of his study and observations concerning the reality of redemption. He probes the depths of inner-life experience as contrasted with nominal commitment and an intellectual acquiescence to doctrine.... [The] book has depth aplenty, but it is not dull or tedious reading. On the contrary, it is easy to read, and stimulating withal."

Acts chapter three transitions from what happened at Pentecost with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to the early Church engaged in aggressive evangelism. Luke begins to show the early formative years of the Church as it grows from a small localized cluster to a worldwide movement of believers. He begins the chapter with a miracle which sets the stage for the preaching and persecution that follows. After this dramatic healing of a lame beggar by Peter and John, a crowd gathered at Solomon's Porch, giving Peter the opportunity to preach the Gospel. You will discover through this expositional commentary on Acts 3 that from the miracle to Peter's message Jesus was the focal point of the early ...

Matthew shows John the Baptist introducing the Messiah to the world. His message is "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!" In the shift from the Old Testament to the New Testament Kingdom of Heaven, he presents the style of this Kingdom. It is the style of the cross. The blood sacrifice of Jesus is prepared by the forerunner. John the Baptist foreruns the cross style. This is the heart of the Kingdom from its beginning. It is the heart of the Kingdom in our day. It is the heart of the Kingdom in the eternal reality. It is about death to self-centeredness. It is a call to the loss of our lives as contained within ourselves. We enter into the fullness of the Spirit of Christ. Let's join John the Baptist in coming to the crucified Christ. In this commentary on Matthew 3-4, Stephen Manley combines exegetical commentary and expositional preaching to examine the message of John the Baptist, the baptism and temptation of Jesus, and the beginning of Jesus' ministry as He calls disciples to be "fishers of men."

Chapter one of the Book of Acts is the lighting of the fuse. Chapter two of the Book of Acts is the explosion. Chapter three and following of the Book of Acts are the rippling effects. Luke begins with the preparation of those who are to be source; he continues with the production of the sourcing; he concludes with the product of a sourced life. He examines; he experiences; he expands. It all revolves around Acts chapter two!A theological experience of "Acts chapter two" is to believe differently. A philosophical study of "Acts chapter two" embraces a new perspective. An exposure to the historical facts of "Acts chapter two" is to see His story. A careful study of the details of "Acts chapter two" is to think differently. If one will allow the reality of "Acts chapter two" to invade their life, they will live differently. If "Acts chapter two" is experienced, you will know God!
