Pharmacology of Neurotransmitter Release

It has been known for half a century that neurotransmitters are released in preformed quanta, that the quanta represent transmitter-storing vesicles, and that release occurs by exocytosis. The focus of this book is twofold. In the first part, the molecular events of exocytosis are analysed. In the second part of the book, the presynaptic receptors for endogenous chemical signals are presented that make neurotransmitter release a highly regulated process.

Origins of Human Neuropathology: The Significance of Teneurin-Latrophilin Interaction

We are delighted to introduce this new special issue on “The Origins of Neuropathology: The Roles of Teneurins and Latrophilins”. Although the title may seem particularly bold, and indeed, perhaps presumptuous, we the editors, think our title well warranted based on the findings and interpretation provided by a dedicated group of researchers who have developed this field over the last 25 years. In this publication, we introduce the readers to researchers whom have pioneered this field, and those whom have played an essential role in developing this research direction. Now, together, their combined work have elucidated a novel ligandreceptor network that evolved during the earliest period...

The monograph is intended for elucidation of the novel trend in chemical physics regarding the polymer non-crystalline phase. It stresses the physical phenomena affecting the kinetics and mechanism of chemical reactions proceeding in the non-crystalline polymer matrix (NCPM). NCPM is depicted in terms of a supramolecular (carcass-micellar) model. The model is thought to reflect heterophase packing of polymeric chains, which co-operate as a molecular-chain sponge. The NCPM model presented is proved for adequate description of principal structure-physical phenomena to elaborate the scheme of structural-kinetic modeling of chemical reactions in bulky polymers. Structure-physical phenomena eluci...

Heterogeneous Modification of Polymers

Heterogeneous Modification of Polymers

Dealing with bulk and surface modifications, this book covers heterogeneous polymer reactions. Such reactions can yield very different products from the corresponding homogeneous reactions and are of great importance in polymer materials science today. The author combines the discussion of basic principles with outline of prospective developments leading to novel products and technologies. He concentrates on specific aspects common to heterogeneous polymeric reactions.
