Gestures of Grace
Gestures of Grace is a celebration of the life and career of Robert Sweetman, H. Evan Runner Chair in the History of Philosophy at the Institute for Christian Studies (2001–present). These essays, written by students and colleagues, testify to the remarkable breadth and depth of Sweetman’s research and teaching, from his early scholarly career at the Pontifical Institute of Medieval Studies to his time at ICS. Throughout the volume, there is extensive engagement with Sweetman’s influential historical scholarship on topics such as the emergence and development of the Dominican order in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, medieval women authors, Thomas Aquinas and Duns Scotus, and indeed on Sweetman’s own systematic contribution to the nature and promise of Christian scholarship today.

Tracing the Lines takes on the project of what Christian scholarship is, and should be, today. It does so, however, with an eye to locating similarities in the rich tradition the last nearly two thousand years of Christian scholarship has given birth to. With humility and a sympathetic ear, Sweetman traces the way certain lines of thought have developed over time, showing their strengths, their weaknesses, and their motivation for shaping Christian scholarship in particular ways. Though he locates his own thought within a particular one of these streams, he shows how all of them have contributed in different ways to the formation of the work of Christian scholarship. Prevention of the Abuse of Seniors
This report provides descriptions of training resource manuals currently available in Canada and used to train health care professionals & front-line workers in the detection, intervention, and prevention of abuse of the elderly. The manuals include workbooks, resource guides, information on running workshops on elder abuse, intervention guides, handbooks for service providers, and information on developing protocols. Information provided for each manual, if available, includes name, address, and phone number of organization that produced the resource; date produced; name of contact person; name of funding organization; language; description of content; and organizations using the resource. Descriptions are arranged alphabetically by province, with a separate section for manuals produced at multiple sites. Recommendations are made at the end regarding the dissemination & evaluation of training manuals.
