Betsey E. Brown was born 9 March 1794 in Amherst, New Hampshire. She was the second wife of Rufus Orcutt. They had seven children. She died in 1877. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in New York, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Johaan Jacob Hammel was born in Germany in 1791. He married twice to Magdalena Laufer and then Barbara Mueller. He had ten children with Magdalena before her death. After her death he brought his children to America. About this time he married Barbara Mueller and they had two more sons. They settled in Illinois where many of his descendants still reside there. Information on many of these people is included in this volume.
Michel RIchard was born 17 June 1787 in France. He was a descendant of M. Richard (born ca. 1683 in France) and Anne Hertig. Magdalena Widmer was born 25 July 1805 in France. She was a descendant of Johannes Widmer (likely born in Switzerland) and Catherine Alliman. Michel Richard married Magdalena Widmer 24 April 1827 in France. They lived in Brisepoutot, Doubs, France and were the parents of nine children. Descendants began immigration to America ca. 1875 and settled in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Iowa, Missouri, California and elsewhere.

Edward Jackson (1759-1828) was born in Moorefield, Hampshire Co. (now Hardy Co.), (West) Virginia. He died in Jackson's Mill, Lewis Co., (West) Virginia. He married Mary Haddan (1764-1796) in 1783. They had six children. He married Elizabeth W. Brake (1778-1835) in 1799. They had nine children. Descendants live in West Virginia and throughout the United States.
