Gigahertz and Terahertz Technologies for Broadband Communications, Second Edition is a cutting-edge resource for understanding current, emerging, and future broadband communications systems, as well as the industry's major players and their products. Nowadays, our powerful mobile phones are the center of our digital lives, and this depends on gigahertz and terahertz technologies for broadband communications. This second edition covers more material on the massive and radical technological developments that have occurred in the past two decades. With the world becoming more digitalized, particularly with the rise of remote work, video conferencing, and devices such as gaming systems, there is...
Future wireless systems are expected to reliably communicate broadband data in high mobility environments. Such communication systems encounter fading channels whose response exhibits significant variations across both time and frequency. In this book, we study communications over such time- and frequency-selective fast-fading channels, focusing on the noncoherent scenario for which the channel's realization is a priori unavailable at both the transmitter and receiver. In particular, we analyze the fundamental limits on reliable information transfer rates and design pilot-aided transmissions to achieve the promised rates. Our results provide insights on how the rate of time-frequency channel variation influences the achievable information rate as well as the pilot design. The book is intended for engineers and academics involved in the research and design of mobile broadband communication systems.
This book covers topics that include classification of BPLC systems, models for analyses based on TL theory, estimation of channel capacity and performance and finally application of modulation, coding and media access control techniques for boosting the performance of BPLC systems. It will be of interest to graduates and practicing engineers.
This book provides the engineer and manager with a very good understanding of the processes needed to effectively perform the system design for broadband communication systems and home networking approaches. It is ideal for all engineers that design and analyze wireless, spread spectrum and basic broadband communication systems and are involved with the design of basic networking systems. It provides a good intuitive approach starting from basic telephony to satellite communications.
