Little Roger, an eleven-year-old boy growing up in northern Maine near the Canadian border, must write a history paper about his small town of Frenchville. As his mother is telling him about growing up in nearby New Brunswick, Canada, she tells him that "Where I'm from, a boy is not a man until he kills a deer." At that point Little Roger sets a new goal for himself, not only does he want to get an A on his history paper about Frenchville but now he also wants to kill a deer and become a man! He knows what he must do but it is something very new to him and he must find a way to reconcile the task with the outcome. With only a couple of days left in the hunting season, will Little Roger kill a deer and become a man?
Spatial information is pervaded by uncertainty. Indeed, geographical data is often obtained by an imperfect interpretation of remote sensing images, while people attach ill-defined or ambiguous labels to places and their properties. As another example, medical images are often the result of measurements by imprecise sensors (e.g. MRI scans). Moreover, by processing spatial information in real-world applications, additional uncertainty is introduced, e.g. due to the use of interpolation/extrapolation techniques or to conflicts that are detected in an information fusion step. To the best of our knowledge, this book presents the first overview of spatial uncertainty which goes beyond the settin...
The five-volume set LNCS 7971-7975 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 13th International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications, ICCSA 2013, held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in June 2013. Apart from the general track, ICCSA 2013 also include 33 special sessions and workshops, in various areas of computational sciences, ranging from computational science technologies, to specific areas of computational sciences, such as computer graphics and virtual reality. There are 46 papers from the general track, and 202 in special sessions and workshops.

New Zealand's fungi are rich in variety and host interactions, vast in number, and often unique to New Zealand. Yet an estimated two-thirds of the expected 22,000 species remain unrecorded. This volume seeks to provide a foundation for understanding New Zealand's fungi, including taxonomic, ecological, historical, and cultural knowledge about fungi, along with inventories of recorded species. This book represents a cooperative initiative by several New Zealand mycologists, in conjunction with a Swiss colleague.
