In the 20th century and beyond, world wars, independence and decolonization conflicts, the Holocaust, exile, migration, terrorism and other forms of collective violence trigger traumas that are mediated by text and image, commemorative rites, music, the press, museums... The notion of trauma itseld evolves with these events. The analysis of these processes and their mediatization is preceded by an introduction that sets out the conceptual framework of the volume. The chapters present the current state of research and offer original perspectives on the relationship between trauma and cultural memory.
