Blue Creek was a medium-sized Maya kingdom whose wealth was built upon access to large-scale and high-quality agricultural lands and its location at the headwaters of the Rio Hondo. The Rio Hondo is the northern-most river draining the Maya lowlands into the Caribbean Sea and provided access to markets and polities of northern Yucatan. The Hepler Family History
Christopher Freiderich Hepler (1746-1816) was born in Germany and emigrated to Pennsylvania and married Catherine Hertzel (d. bef. 1816). Christopher and Catherine first settled in Pennsylvania, then moved to Thomasville, Rowan County, North Carolina. With his brothers, Casper, Jacob, and George, he fought in the Revolutionary War. Ancestors lived in Lomersheim, Benningen, and Vaihingen, Wuerttenberg (Germany). Descendants of Christopher and his brothers lived in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, California, Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Kansas, Texas, and elsewhere.
The Early Bethells and Their Descendants, 1635 to 1994
William and Edward Bethell were living in Virginia about 1750. Both died before 1760. They may have been brothers but this is unknown. Information concerning many of their descendants some of whom favored Quaker beliefs and settled later in Pennsylvania are included in this volume. Later descendants moved to Texas, Oklahoma and elsewhere. Today they live throughout the United States.
