The Marcus Garvey and Universal Negro Improvement Association Papers, Vol. X
"Africa for the Africans" was the name given to the extraordinary movement led by Jamaican Marcus Mosiah Garvey (1887-1940). Volumes I-VII of the Marcus Garvey and Universal Negro Improvement Association Papers chronicled the Garvey movement that flourished in the United States during the 1920s. Now, the long-awaited African volumes of this edition demonstrate clearly the central role Africans played in the development of the Garvey phenomenon. The African volumes provide the first authoritative account of how Africans transformed Garveyism into an African social movement. The most extensive collection of documents ever gathered on the early African nationalism of the interwar period, Volume X provides a detailed chronicle of the spread of Garvey's call for African redemption throughout Africa.
Protestant Bible Translation and Mandarin as the National Language of China
This book represents the first monograph-length study of the relationship between Protestant Bible translation and the development of Mandarin from a lingua franca into the national language of China. Drawing on both published and unpublished sources, this book looks into the translation, publication, circulation and use of the Mandarin Bible in late Qing and Republican China, and sets out how the Mandarin Bible contributed to the standardization and enrichment of Mandarin. It also illustrates that the Mandarin Union Version, published in 1919, was involved in promoting Mandarin as not only the standard medium of communication but also a marker of national identity among the Chinese people, thus playing a role in the nation-building of modern China.

Theology of Hope
This book digs deep into Yonggi Cho's teaching of the Threefold Blessing: salvation, financial prosperity, and healing, expressing the biblical concept of hope in the Korean Pentecostal context. Ironically, hope always begins situations where it is lacking. The Threefold Blessing was the most urgent and eager hope in the desperate socio-economical and political situation following the Korean War. Cho's theology, successfully contextualized, became deeply lodged in the Korean Pentecostals' lives, which resulted in the growth of strong churches in Korea. But the context has now changed, in part due to the gospel's successful penetration of Korean culture and the Threefold Blessing must be reinterpreted and theologically recontextualized. The original Threefold Blessing emphasized the wellbeing of the individual person. The new Threefold Blessing must expand its theological perspectives to include social and ecological matters. This book suggests ways for its recontextualization for present and future of Korean Pentecostals.
