Frontiers in Psychiatry is proud to present our Case Reports series. Our case reports aim to highlight unique cases of patients that present with an unexpected/unusual diagnosis, treatment outcome, or clinical course. Case reports provide insight into the differential diagnosis, decision-making, and clinical management of unusual cases and are a valuable educational tool.
Lifestyle factors, such as physical activity, cognitive activity, healthy social engagement, and diet have become the focus of brain health and dementia prevention, given the failure of pharmacological treatment to fundamentally reduce dementia risk. Age and genetics are non-modifiable risk factors for cognitive decline and dementia. However, we now have evidence that lifestyle behaviors can reduce the risk of cognitive decline and dementia even among older adults with high genetic risk. Cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) are worldwide problems that disproportionately affect persons with fewer resources throughout their lifespan. Low and middle-income co...
This Research Topic aims to collect all the Case Reports submitted to the Dementia and Neurodegenerative Diseases section. All the Case Reports submitted to this collection will be personally assessed by the Specialty Chief Editor before the beginning of the peer-review process. Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) with self-reported concerns and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) are well-established to be at increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease (AD) dementia and a clinical continuum of dementia progression as a spectrum of AD. AD may develop from SCD to MCI (early MCI and late MCI) and eventually to AD. Nevertheless, until recently little was known about their pathophysiology associated with cognitive-behavioral syndrome. Although for researchers, scientists and clinicians, the pathophysiology of AD spectrum is an intriguing issue, delineating it in a clear way is far from easy. Taken together, in-depth understanding of neuroimaging-based pathology behind...
