»Wir singen schon heute die Lieder von Morgen« erklang es 1964 auf dem Deutschlandtreffen der Jugend in Ostberlin. Mit neuen Liedern legte die DDR ihren Kindern und Jugendlichen die Hoffnung auf eine bessere sozialistische Zukunft in den Mund und wollte sie auf emotionaler Ebene den »Hausherren von Morgen« einschreiben. Die DDR als »modernes Zeitregime« gedacht, erzählt Juliane Brauer die Geschichte einer versprochenen Zukunft und der Folgen ihrer Nichteinlösung. Denn anfängliche Fortschrittsgläubigkeit wurde abgelöst von Misstrauen und Enttäuschung über eine Jugend, die ihre eigenen Träume hatte. Deutlich wird hierbei, wie sich die erwünschten Gefühle von Vertrauen und Heimatliebe um konkrete sozialistisch geprägte Vorstellungen von Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft gruppieren lassen.
