Grief comes into our lives like a thief. We are shocked, hurt, even bitter. The intensely personal experience may send us in a tailspin of emotions completely unexpected, always unwanted. The death of a child is perhaps one of the most grievous sorrows to bear. As an RN, I have attended many couples experiencing the death of their beloved child in the womb, or shortly after birth. I have witnessed, and shared the intense grief. We have a God who knows the number of hairs on our heads, calls the stars by name, and is aware of each sparrow that falls from the sky. This same God, is aware of each individual experience of grief and pain. God's compassion moved me to start a support group for grieving families, hoping to touch lives with His compassionate love. In this book you will find a compilation of scriptures, poems, notes, and quotes taken from the support group newsletter that I have written over the years. In times of grief, reading the words of others can help communicate the intense feelings of grief and loss and help us realize we are not alone.
Organic Chemistry, Volume 5-B: Oxidation in Organic Chemistry, Part B presents some of the most common and significant reactions in organic chemistry, which involves oxidation and reduction. This book provides detailed discussions of specific oxidants or topics concerning oxidation of organic compounds. Organized into four chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the specific oxidants, including thallium(III), cupric ion, and ruthenium tetroxide. This text then presents the scope and preparative use as well as the mechanistic aspects of the various oxidations. Other chapters consider the significance of phenolic oxidative coupling in nature's biosynthetic pathways. This book discusses as well the various mechanistic alternatives for the enzymic and non-enzymic reactions, which will lead to a fuller understanding of the enzymic mechanisms and the greater synthetic utility of this reaction. The final chapter deals with the oxidative coupling of phenols. This book is a valuable resource for organic chemists and research workers.
This unique monograph presents a collection of papers by leading international fluid dynamicists and applied mathematicians demonstrating the latest state of the art in fluid mechanics. The vast scope and breadth of this subject is illustrated with sections covering evolution in flow problems, convection and transport phenomena, dynamics of atmosphere, and wave propagation.
This book focuses on the belief-desire-intention (BDI) model of rational agents, which recognizes the primacy of beliefs, desires, and intentions in rational action. One goal of modern computer science is to engineer computer programs that can act as autonomous, rational agents; software that can independently make good decisions about what actions to perform on our behalf and execute those actions. Applications range from small programs that intelligently search the Web buying and selling goods via electronic commerce, to autonomous space probes. Nanomaterials via Single-Source Precursors: Synthesis, Processing and Applications presents recent results and overviews of synthesis, processing, characterization and applications of advanced materials for energy, electronics, biomedicine, sensors and aerospace. A variety of processing methods (vapor, liquid and solid-state) are covered, along with materials, including metals, oxides, semiconductor, sulfides, selenides, nitrides, and carbon-based materials. Production of quantum dots, nanoparticles, thin films and composites are described by a collection of international experts. Given the ability to customize the phase, morphology, and properties of target materials, this "rational approac...
