This book explores pedagogical approaches to decolonising the literature curriculum through a range of practical and theoretically-informed case studies. Although decolonising the curriculum has been widely discussed in the academe and the media, sustained examinations of pedagogies involved in decolonising the literature at university level are still lacking in English and related subjects. This book makes a crucial contribution to these evolving discussions, presenting current and critically engaged pedagogical scholarship on decolonising the literature curriculum. Offering a broad spectrum of accessible chapters authored by experienced national and international academics, the book is structured into two parts, Texts and Contexts, presenting case studies on decolonising the literature curriculum which range from the undergraduate classroom, university writing centres, through to the literary doctorate.

This series promotes inquiry into the relationship between literary texts and their cultural and intellectual contexts, in theoretical, interpretative and historical perspectives. It has developed out of a research initiative of the German Department at Cambridge University, but its focus of interest is on the European tradition broadly perceived. Its purpose is to encourage comparative and interdisciplinary research into the connections between cultural history and the literary imagination generally.

Beabsichtigt war, in dieser Publikation regelmäßig einen Überblick über neue Forschungsvorhaben und -ergebnisse zu bieten. Darüber hinaus enthielt das Jahrbuch auch Primärliteratur. 1939 verboten die Nationalsozialisten das Periodikum. Im Jahre 1960 wurde unter der Ägide des Germanisten Hermann Kunisch eine Neue Folge begründet, die inzwischen auf nunmehr 52 Bände gediehen ist. In der fächerübergreifenden Zeitschrift werden Beiträge zur Germanistik, Anglistik / Amerikanistik und Romanistik auf Deutsch und in den zu den Fächern gehörenden Sprachen publiziert. Außerdem enthält sie einen umfangreichen Besprechungsteil.Das Literaturwissenschaftliche Jahrbuch ist auf keine Methode festgelegt. Die Herausgeber streben an, auch Beiträge junger Nachwuchswissenschaftler aufzunehmen. Zu den Besonderheiten gehört darüber hinaus, bislang unveröffentlichte literarische Texte zu publizieren.
