This unique text/reference provides a coherent and comprehensive overview of all aspects of video analysis of humans. Broad in coverage and accessible in style, the text presents original perspectives collected from preeminent researchers gathered from across the world. In addition to presenting state-of-the-art research, the book reviews the historical origins of the different existing methods, and predicts future trends and challenges. Features: with a Foreword by Professor Larry Davis; contains contributions from an international selection of leading authorities in the field; includes an extensive glossary; discusses the problems associated with detecting and tracking people through camera networks; examines topics related to determining the time-varying 3D pose of a person from video; investigates the representation and recognition of human and vehicular actions; reviews the most important applications of activity recognition, from biometrics and surveillance, to sports and driver assistance.
This volume contains papers describing state-of-the-art technology for advanced multimedia systems. Visual informatics is a field of interest not just among the information technology and computer science community, but also other related fields such as engineering, me- cal and health informatics and education starting in the early 1990s. Recently, the field is gaining more attention from researchers and industry. It has become a mul- disciplinary and trans-disciplinary field related to research areas such as computer vision, visualization, information visualization, real-time image processing, medical image processing, image information retrieval, virtual reality, augmented reality, - pressive visual mathematics, 3D graphics, multimedia-fusion, visual data mining, visual ontology, as well...
The three volume set LNCS 7583, 7584 and 7585 comprises the Workshops and Demonstrations which took place in connection with the European Conference on Computer Vision, ECCV 2012, held in Firenze, Italy, in October 2012. The total of 179 workshop papers and 23 demonstration papers was carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the proceedings. They where held at workshops with the following themes: non-rigid shape analysis and deformable image alignment; visual analysis and geo-localization of large-scale imagery; Web-scale vision and social media; video event categorization, tagging and retrieval; re-identification; biological and computer vision interfaces; where computer vision meet...
The four-volume set LNCS 6492-6495 constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the 10th Asian Conference on Computer Vision, ACCV 2009, held in Queenstown, New Zealand in November 2010. All together the four volumes present 206 revised papers selected from a total of 739 Submissions. All current issues in computer vision are addressed ranging from algorithms that attempt to automatically understand the content of images, optical methods coupled with computational techniques that enhance and improve images, and capturing and analyzing the world's geometry while preparing the higher level image and shape understanding. Novel gemometry techniques, statistical learning methods, and modern algebraic procedures are dealt with as well.
This book discusses the application of different machine learning techniques to the sub-concepts of smart cities such as smart energy, transportation, waste management, health, infrastructure, etc. The focus of this book is to come up with innovative solutions in the above-mentioned issues with the purpose of alleviating the pressing needs of human society. This book includes content with practical examples which are easy to understand for readers. It also covers a multi-disciplinary field and, consequently, it benefits a wide readership including academics, researchers, and practitioners.
On behalf of KES International and the KES 2009 Organising Committee we are very pleased to present these volumes, the proceedings of the 13th Inter- tional Conference on Knowledge-Based Intelligent Information and Engineering Systems, held at the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Mathematics, University of Chile, in Santiago de Chile. This year, the broad focus of the KES annual conference was on intelligent applications, emergent intelligent technologies and generic topics relating to the theory, methods, tools and techniques of intelligent systems. This covers a wide range of interests, attracting many high-quality papers, which were subjected to a very rigorous review process. Thus, these...
