James Mark Brown was born August 18, 1955 in Toledo, Ohio. His parents are Jonathan Lee Brown and Betty Ann Shaffer. Cheryl Anne Gustafson was born August 7, 1957 in Meadville, Pennsylvania. Her parents are Everett William Gustafson and Esther Constance Belding. James and Cheryl were married in 1976 in Brockway, Pennsylvania. Traces their ancestors and living relatives in Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Kentucky, Massachusetts and elsewhere.
Family History and Genealogy of Pioneer Jacob Beiler (1698-1771)
Pioneer Jacob Beiler, a native of Switzerland, emigrated to America on October 8, 1737. He was accompanied by his wife Veronica (or Feronica) and five children Barbara, Anna, Christopher, Maria and Elizabeth. They travelled on the ship "Charming Nancy" which sailed out of Rotterdam, Holland. They settled in Berks County, Pa. where they embraced the Amish way of life. His wife died soon after reaching America, 1737-1738. He then married Elizabeth Kallen, the daughter of Hans and Anna Kallen. They were the parents of Jacob, John (Johann), Sarah, Joseph, and David. This family did not live the Amish way of life. Pioneer Jacob died in 1771.

Education's Prisoners sheds light on the complicated relationship among the educational system, the political economy, and the prison industrial system in the United States. Working within the tradition of critical theory, this critical ethnography posits a more than accidental connection among these phenomena, and engages in a debate with existing literature within critical theory related to structure and agency. The life stories of the participants and their perspectives on their social circumstances provide a tool for deepening and questioning our understandings of these matters. In addition to its substantive findings, this book allows us to see in human terms how structures and forces in society contribute to the outcomes of school failure and incarceration that are usually measured in percentages and correlations.
