"What are you doing?" I yelp, dropping the book. I cringe when the novel lands with a thud. He clicks his tongue. "You shouldn't be so careless with that book. It's worth quite a bit of money." My fear nearly strangles me as I turn around… And see Stephen Cohen smirking at me. Although I've never formally met my dad's boss, I recognize him from seeing him in magazines. Like an idiot, I squeak, "Hi." And like a true idiot, I think, No wonder the New York Post called him one of the city's hottest bachelors. He has silver hair, which is belied by his youthfully handsome face. I resist the urge to quiver as his smoldering violet eyes take in the sight of me. He picks up the book, clicking his tongue again. A new wave of nausea comes over me when I see the cracked spine. F**k, I don't think it was cracked before I dropped it. He shakes his head. "You damaged my favorite book." WORD COUNT: 3,400 Caught by My Dad's Boss is a naughty short story about a young woman and her dad's sexy boss!
The Russian war in Ukraine has been accompanied, fuelled, and legitimized by a Russian information war campaign that is unprecedented in its scope and nature. This Russian state-media propaganda campaign has been surprisingly successful in disguising and distorting the nature of the war and shaping the way it is perceived and understood, both in Russia and beyond. This special inaugural issue of JSPPS sets out to launch an interdisciplinary discussion on the Russian information warfare being waged in parallel with the military war in Ukraine. The JOURNAL OF SOVIET AND POST-SOVIET POLITICS AND SOCIETY (JSPPS) is a new bi-annual journal about to be launched as a companion journal to the Soviet and Post-Soviet Politics and Society (SPPS) book series (founded 2004 and edited by Andreas Umland, Dr. phil., PhD).

Report of an investigation into allegations by Rep. Darrell Issa and others that SEC employees communicated or coordinated with the White House concerning the bringing, or the timing of bringing, an action against Goldman Sachs & Co. ("Goldman"), prior to the April 16, 2010 filing of the SEC's complaint against Goldman, in order to affect debate of the financial regulatory reform legislation pending before the U.S. Senate. Issa and others also alleged that SEC employees may have had communications with the New York Times concerning the SEC complaint against Goldman prior to the filing of the complaint. This is the report of the investigation with redaction. This is a print on demand edition of an important, hard-to-find report.
As World War II ended, few Americans in government or universities knew much about the Soviet Union. As David Engerman shows in this book, a network of scholars, soldiers, spies, and philanthropists created an enterprise known as Soviet Studies to fill in this dangerous gap in American knowledge. This group brought together some of the nation's best minds from the left, right, and center, colorful and controversial individuals ranging from George Kennan to Margaret Mead to Zbigniew Brzezinski, not to mention historians Sheila Fitzpatrick and Richard Pipes. Together they created the knowledge that helped fight the Cold War and define Cold War thought. Soviet Studies became a vibrant intellectual enterprise, studying not just the Soviet threat, but Soviet society and culture at a time when many said that these were contradictions in terms, as well as Russian history and literature. And this broad network, Engerman argues, forever changed the relationship between the government and academe, connecting the Pentagon with the ivory tower in ways that still matter today.
