Chasing Wife in the Crematorium + Substitute Awakens + Big Female Lead Revenge" You Xi was Fu Jinsheng's hidden wife for five years, yet she was nothing more than a tool he used to repay his debt to his white moonlight (first love). After the white moonlight returned to the country, Fu Jinsheng started staying out all night. All his tenderness was reserved for her, while all that remained for You Xi was cold violence and mockery. Heartbroken, You Xi handed him the divorce papers. Fu Jinsheng sneered: “Without me, you won’t survive!” After giving up, she tore apart her obsession and transformed into an internationally renowned painter—one of her works sold for an astronomical price. You Xi made a bold statement: “Back then, you ignored me. Now, you’re not even worthy to reach me.” On a rainy night, Fu Jinsheng, eyes red, pinned her against the wall: “Let’s get remarried. I’ll give you my life.” You Xi chuckled lightly: “Mr. Fu, love that comes too late is cheaper than grass.” It wasn’t until the truth behind the white moonlight’s scheme was revealed that Fu Jinsheng realized just how terribly wrong he had been…
This book explores xiangsheng, one of the most popular folk art performance genres in China, its enlistment by official propaganda machine after the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and its revival in popularity under Guo Degang and his Deyun Club. Just as the 1950's saw the shift of xiangsheng 's social function from entertainment to the political tool of ‘serving the party’, Guo Degang has completed the paradigm shift by turning its focus back to ‘serving the people’ as a means of entertainment and social criticism. This volume examines how Guo has resurrected the essence of xiangsheng, successfully commercialised it in a market economy, and simultaneously deconstructed the official discourse through grassroots means.
