This volume contains the proceedings of the AMS Special Session on Orthogonal Polynomials and their Applications, held January 4?7, 2023, in Boston as part of the Joint Mathematics Meetings. Orthogonal polynomials are classical objects with important connections to many areas of mathematics, such as approximation theory, integrable systems, and mathematical physics. This volume reflects the wide variety of topics of current interest in the orthogonal polynomial community. Specific topics appearing in this volume include exceptional orthogonal polynomials, non-Hermitian orthogonal polynomials, multiple orthogonal polynomials, and applications to numerical linear algebra and integrable probability.
The Abel Symposia volume at hand contains a collection of high-quality articles written by the world’s leading experts, and addressing all mathematicians interested in advances in deterministic and stochastic dynamical systems, numerical analysis, and control theory. In recent years we have witnessed a remarkable convergence between individual mathematical disciplines that approach deterministic and stochastic dynamical systems from mathematical analysis, computational mathematics and control theoretical perspectives. Breakthrough developments in these fields now provide a common mathematical framework for attacking many different problems related to differential geometry, analysis and alg...
Malcolm Blue (1700-1766) married Sarah Smith and the family immigrated in 1748 from Scotland to Cumberland County, North Carolina. Other Blue families immigrated later from Scotland to North Carolina and elsewhere. Descendants lived throughout the United States. Includes ancestors in Scotland.
Descendants of Abraham Hammer (1730-1800?), born in Plymouth Twp., Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania to John (Johannes) and Jane Hammer. He married Rachel Meeting (d. after 1784) in 1755. She was the daughter of Aaron Meeting. He died before 1800 in Randolph Co., (formerly Orange Co.), North Carolina. They had six children. John (Johannes) Hammer (1684-1765) was an immigrant from Palatinate, Germany, who first immigrated to Great Britain in the early 18th century, stopped for a while in Wales, and finally immigrated to America settling in Pennsylvania. Descendants live mostly in North Carolina but also in Pennsylvania, Florida, California and elsewhere.

High Point, nestled in the heart of the Piedmont Triad, has long been at the forefront of progress, attracting those entrepreneurs who were "up to something out of the ordinary"?, a place where spanking leads to tragedy, ransom notes are left in mailboxes and people are railroaded through court. When Prohibition swept the nation, High Point's first saloonist stayed in business for only eighteen hours. High Point's speed-demon racecar drivers opted to smuggle liquor in their uncatchable cars, which sparked the beginning of NASCAR. Join veteran author Alice Sink as she explores these and other tales, from the cruel and comical to the mischievous and outrageous, in the story of this "international city's"? colorful past.
