Empathy
Empathy: A History tells the fascinating and largely unknown story of the first appearance of empathy in 1908 and tracks its shifting meanings over the following century. Abstract: Die Verfasserin geht davon aus, dass sowohl mit der Praxis der Werbung um Spenderinnen und deren Aufklärung als auch mit dem Prozess der Entnahme des Blutes sowie mit der unterschiedlichen Nutzung der Stammzellpräparate zu Therapie- oder Forschungszwecken Probleme verbunden sind, die für die gesellschaftliche Auseinandersetzung von ebensolcher Bedeutung sind, wie die Frage 'Spenden oder privat einlagern'. Ein Problemkreis bezieht sich auf die Werbung und Aufklärung der Spenderinnen. Die Schwangeren werden frühestens wenige Wochen vor der Geburt beziehungsweise oftmals erst kurz vor oder während der Entbindung mit der Möglichkeit der Einlagerung von Nabelschnurblut konfrontiert und um ihr Einverständnis zur Entnahme gebeten. Eine den Interessen der Schwangeren und ihrer Familie angemessene Aufklärung, die der Komplexität und Problematik des Themas gerecht wird, ist damit nicht gewährleistet.
