PJs in Vietnam
During the Vietnam War hundreds of American pilots were rescued from certain death or capture by a small but dedicated force of air rescuemen. These warriors flew in aircraft named Jolly Green, Pedro, Sandy, and Crown. As we enter the 21st century, the heroic exploits of these men and their story remains unknown to the vast majority of Americans. Now for the first time their story is told. The names of the men who flew these missions and the names of those they rescued are identified. How combat tactics were developed and who developed them is described. The courage displayed during seemingly impossible rescue missions is almost beyond belief. Yet it is all-true !!! This is not fiction; these are not tales. It is written by a person who was one part of this rescue team; a Pararescueman, otherwise known as a “PJ.” PJ’s did not do this mission alone, but they were the tip of the spear.
