Judgment Clay

A modern-day Sherlock Holmes, Bernie Quist operates as a consultant detective from Baker Avenue in York. His assistant is Watson, although this Watson is a streetwise youth from the Grimpen housing estate and he's definitely no doctor. The mismatched duo take on bizarre cases which invariably lead into the realms of the supernatural, a shadowy world that, thanks to his dark secret, Quist is all too familiar with. The north of England has a new political group headed by Dominic Churchill. The White Rose Party campaign for Yorkshire independence, fairer wages and pensions, and the adoption of Yorkshire Pudding as Britain's national dish. Unfortunately, white is the appropriate word, for their ...

Future Learning Vision F.L.V

In an era that witnessed the development of technology, and nothing remains the same, it is time to add a new approach and new methods to the teaching mechanism of university courses. Here you will find a project that is likely to be implemented with Google, which is concerned with delivering the paper book prescribed to each student in his course at every university, in the form of an electronic book and in an effective practical way, and this does not negate the presence of the student‘s paper book on the contrary. The electronic book is at the expense of the paper book. Most studies indicate that students prefer the electronic book over the paper book for several reasons, including cost, weight, and keeping pace with technological development. As for the rest of the groups, and to a greater extent, they prefer the paper book for psychological purposes first, and then because of their needs for tangible dealing with the book. Finally, we do not deny that both types are a source of knowledge and a summary of what scientists and thinkers came up with, and they are the main source for the progress of nations.

Growing up in Havana, Cuba, author Waldo Lopez-Aqueres's life has been one of challenge, heartbreak, and adversity. At four, he almost lost his own life shortly after his mother lost hers. He was then rejected by his paternal grandparents and siblings. But he found comfort and acceptance with his maternal brothers and sisters, and from their love he found courage, hope, and an intense motivation to learn. As his body grew, so did his confidence and determination to rise above the terrors of his childhood. His young dreams were nearly derailed, however, by the arrival of a totalitarian communist government. At twenty, his world - like that of many other Cubans - began to crumble around him, a...

In Southern Fried Pride, writer and journalist Art Greenwald shares his “best of,” a collected works of comical, serious and sometimes bittersweet essays, in-depth features and thought-provoking interviews. Part autobiographical, the ex-Pennsylvanian showcases some of the legends, personalities, places and events that have transformed South Florida into a thrilling, thriving, and vibrant gay mecca. Greenwald serves up a mixed bag of stories, first chronicling his life in “Tales from the Gayborhood.” He reveals his hormone-drenched player days in the ever-changing gay club scene while coping with aging in a youth-centric culture. He takes readers on a wild, nostalgic trip with his can...

Hurricane Katrina

This book presents the fullest account yet written of the impact of Hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Rooted in a wealth of oral histories, it tells the dramatic but underreported story of a people who confronted the unprecedented devastation of sixty-five-thousand homes when the eye wall and powerful northeast quadrant of the hurricane swept a record thirty-foot storm surge across a seventy-five-mile stretch of unprotected Mississippi towns and cities. James Patterson Smith takes us through life and death accounts of storm day, August 29, 2005, and the precarious days of food and water shortages that followed. Along the way the narrative treats us to inspiring episodes of nei...

Chris Christie

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has become a national Republican Party figure, famous for his blunt public statements, his willingness to confront powerful special interests, and his determination to change the ingrown, corrupt, backroom political culture of New Jersey. In just two years as governor, Christie has moved aggressively to reduce the state's ballooning deficit, rein in lucrative entitlements for teacher, police, fire, and public employee unions, cut out-of-control government spending, and create jobs by reducing counterproductive business regulations. But beneath Christie's combative public persona is an intensely loyal family man, whose deep roots in New Jersey shape his core...
