We believe that the series of congresses that started as the “Taller Iberoamericano de Reconocimiento de Patrones (TIARP)”, and later became the “Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition (CIARP)”, has contributed to these groupconsolidatione?orts. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 19th Iberoamerican Congress on Pattern Recognition, CIARP 2014, held in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico, in November 2014. The 115 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 160 submissions. Drawing on archival and ethnographic work, this book analyzes how indigeneity, Christianity and state-making became intertwined in the Colombian Amazon throughout the 20th century.
