Algorithms and Models for the Web Graph
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 17th International Workshop on Algorithms and Models for the Web Graph, WAW 2020, held in Warsaw, Poland, in September 2020. The 12 full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 19 submissions. The aim of the workshop was to further the understanding of graphs that arise from the Web and various user activities on the Web, and stimulate the development of high-performance algorithms and applications that exploit these graphs. Due to the corona pandemic the conference was postponed from June 2020 to September 2020.
Group Decision and Negotiation: Behavior, Models, and Support
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 19th International Conference on Group Decision and Negotiation, GDN 2019, held in Loughborough, UK, in June 2019. The field of Group Decision and Negotiation focuses on decision processes with at least two participants and a common goal but conflicting individual goals. Research areas of Group Decision and Negotiation include electronic negotiations, experiments, the role of emotions in group decision and negotiations, preference elicitation and decision support for group decisions and negotiations, and conflict resolution principles. The 17 full papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 98 submissions. They were organized in topical sections named: preference modeling for group decision and negotiations; collaborative decision making processes; conflict resolution; behavioral OR, and negotiation support systems and studies.
Modelling and Mining Networks
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 19th International Workshop on Modelling and Mining Networks, WAW 2024, held in Warsaw, Poland, during June 3–6, 2024. The 12 full papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 19 submissions. The aim of this workshop was to further the understanding of networks that arise in theoretical as well as applied domains. The goal was also to stimulate the development of high-performance and scalable algorithms that exploit these networks.
Multiobjective Programming and Goal Programming
This book gives the reader an insight into the state of the art in the field of multiobjective (linear, nonlinear and combinatorial) programming, goal programming and multiobjective metaheuristics. The 26 papers describe all relevant trends in this fields of research . They cover a wide range of topics ranging from theoretical investigations to algorithms, dealing with uncertainty, and applications to real world problems such as engineering design, water distribution systems and portfolio selection. The book is based on the papers of the seventh international conference on multiple objective programming and goal programming (MOPGP06).
Artificial Economics
Simulation is used in economics to solve large econometric models, for large-scale micro simulations, and to obtain numerical solutions for policy design in top-down established models. But these applications fail to take advantage of the methods offered by artificial economics (AE) through artificial intelligence and distributed computing. AE is a bottom-up and generative approach of agent-based modelling developed to get a deeper insight into the complexity of economics. AE can be viewed as a very elegant and general class of modelling techniques that generalize numerical economics, mathematical programming and micro simulation approaches. The papers presented in this book address methodological questions and applications of AE to macroeconomics, industrial organization, information and learning, market dynamics, finance and financial markets.
Advances in Social Simulation
This book is the conference proceedings of ESSA 2013, the 9th Conference of the European Social Simulation Association. ESSA conferences constitute annual events, which serve as an international platform for the exchange of ideas and discussion of cutting-edge research in the field of social simulations, both from the theoretical as well as applied perspective. This book consists of 33 articles, which are divided into four themes: Methods for the development of simulation models, Applications of agent-based modeling, Adaptive behavior, social interactions and global environmental change and using qualitative data to inform behavioral rules.
