HIV Protagonists
This moving book examines the HIV epidemic in the UK through the lives of a range of individuals who worked tirelessly, but often quietly, to make a difference to those living and dying with HIV. From LGBTQ+ activists to healthcare researchers, from charity volunteers to writers and campaigners, the book shines a spotlight on a range of people who played crucial but unsung roles. From the first recorded death in 1981 through to the present day, these compelling stories illustrate the trajectory of the epidemic. Some were involved in the early stages when stigma and discrimination compounded the lack of treatment; others have helped to reach a place where, although HIV is still with us, it is no longer the existential threat it once was. Understanding Im/politeness Through Translation
This book offers a unique window to the study of im/politeness by looking at a translation perspective, which offers a different set of data and allows further understanding of the phenomenon. In the arena of real-life translation practice, the workings of im/politeness are renegotiated in a different cultural context and thus pragmatically oriented cross-cultural differences become more concrete and tangible. The book focuses on the language pair English and Greek, a strategic choice with Greek as a less widely spoken language and English as a global language. The two languages also differ in their politeness orientation in certain genres, which allows for a fruitful comparison. The volume focuses on press translation first, then translation of academic texts and translation for the stage, and finally audiovisual translation (mainly subtitles). These genres highlight a public, an interactional, and a multimodal dimension in the workings of im/politeness.

William Sabin and His Descendants, 1609-2000
William Sabin was born in Titchfield, Hampshire, England in 1609. His parents were Samuel Sabin and Elizabeth. He married Mary Wright. They emigrated sometime before 1642 and settled in Rehoboth, Massachusetts. They had twelve children. Mary died in 1660. William married Martha Allen in 1663 and they had eight children. William died in 1686. Descendants and relatives lived in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Vermont, Nova Scotia and elsewhere.
