The five Diez albums in Berlin, acquired by Heinrich Friedrich von Diez in Constantinople around 1789, contain more than 400 figurative paintings, drawings, fragments, and calligraphic works originating for the most part from Ilkhanid, Jalayirid, and Timurid workshops. Gonnella, Weis and Rauch unite in this volume 21 essays that analyse their relation to their “parent” albums at the Topkapı Palace or examine specific works by reflecting upon their role in the larger history of book art in Iran. Carter Cousins, 1681-1989
James Carter was born about 1670 probably in England. He was a Quaker and married Susannah Griffith about 1700 in Pennsylvania. They had eight children. Information on several lines of their descendants are included in this volume. Descendants now live throughout the United States.
Hale Brothers
Roger Hale, son of Deacon David Hale and Mary Welles, was born 6 Mar 1772 at Glastonbury, Connecticut. He married Sarah Foote on 24 Dec 1801 in Glastonbury. They had 2 sons, Titus and Israel Foote Hale. Sarah died 25 Apr 1804. Roger married Sarah Ann Bowers on 14 Aug 1814. They had 2 children, Marvin and Eliza. Sarah died in Hartford, Connecticut 21 Dec 1857. Roger died 25 June 1843 at South Glastonbury, Connecticut. Their descendants have lived in Connecticut, California, Iowa, Missouri, and other areas in the United States.
