This book brings together past experience, current work and promising future trends associated with distributed computing, artificial intelligence and their application in order to provide efficient solutions to real problems. DCAI 2020 is a forum to present applications of innovative techniques for studying and solving complex problems in artificial intelligence and computing areas. This year’s technical program will present both high quality and diversity, with contributions in well-established and evolving areas of research. Specifically, 83 papers were submitted to main track and special sessions, by authors from 26 different countries representing a truly “wide area network” of research activity. The DCAI’20 technical program has selected 35 papers and, as in past editions, it will be special issues in ranked journals. This symposium is organized by the University of L'Aquila (Italy). We would like to thank all the contributing authors, the members of the Program Committee and the sponsors (IBM, Armundia Group, EurAI, AEPIA, APPIA, CINI, OIT, UGR, HU, SCU, USAL, AIR Institute and UNIVAQ).

DCAI 2023 is a forum to present applications of innovative techniques for studying and solving complex problems in artificial intelligence and computing areas. This year’s technical program presents both high quality and diversity, with contributions in well-established and evolving areas of research. Specifically, 108 papers were submitted, by authors from 31 different countries representing a truly “wide area network” of research activity. The DCAI’23 technical program has selected 50 full papers in the Special Sessions (ASET, AIMPM, AI4CS, CLIRAI, TECTONIC, PSO-ML, SmartFoF, IoTalentum) and, as in past editions, it will be special issues in ranked journals. This symposium is organized by the LASI and Centro Algoritmi of the University of Minho (Portugal). The authors like to thank all the contributing authors, the members of the Program Committee, National Associations (AEPIA, APPIA), and the sponsors (AIR Institute).
This book constitutes the proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, PAAMS 2023, held in Guimaraes, Portugal, in July 2023. The 32 full papers in this book were reviewed and selected from 70 submissions. 5 demonstration papers are also included in this volume. The papers deal with the application and validation of agent-based models, methods, and technologies in a number of key applications areas, including: advanced models and learning, agent-based programming, decision-making, education and social interactions, formal and theoretic models, health and safety, mobility and the city, swarms and task allocation.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Congress on Blockchain and Applications 2022, BLOCKCHAIN’22, held in L’Aquila, Italy, in July 2022. Among the scientific community, blockchain and artificial intelligence are a promising combination that will transform the production and manufacturing industry, media, finance, insurance, e-government, etc. Nevertheless, there is no consensus with schemes or best practices that would specify how blockchain and artificial intelligence should be used together. The 37 full papers presented in the main track were carefully reviewed and selected from more than 75 submissions. They contain the latest advances on blockchain and artificial intelligence and on their application domains, exploring innovative ideas, guidelines, theories, models, technologies, and tools and identifying critical issues and challenges that researchers and practitioners must deal with in the future research. The book also includes 3 papers from the WEB3-TRUST workshop and 2 papers from the Doctoral Consortium.
This book constitutes the proceedings of the workshops co-located with the 19th International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, PAAMS 2021, held in Salamanca, Spain, in October 2021. The total of 17 full and 9 short papers presented in this volume were carefully selected from 42 submissions. The papers in this volume stem from the following meetings:Workshop on Character Computing (C2); Workshop on Deep Learning Applications (DeLA); Workshop on Decision Support, Recommendation, and Persuasion in Artificial Intelligence (DeRePAI); Workshop on Multi-agent based Applications for Modern Energy Markets, Smart Grids and Future Power Systems (MASGES); Workshop on Smart Cities and Intelligent Agents (SCIA).
This book is suitable for researchers and practitioners in biology, medicine and health sciences and bioinformatics. The success of bioinformatics and computational biology in recent years has been driven by research through computational tools and techniques that are essential for data analysis in modern biology and medicine. Systems biology is a related research area that has been replacing the reductionist view that dominated biology research in the last decades, requiring the coordinated efforts of biological researchers with those related to data analysis, mathematical modelling, computer simulation and optimization. The accumulation and exploitation of large-scale databases prompt new ...
