FLINS, originally an acronym for Fuzzy Logic and Intelligent Technologies in Nuclear Science, is now extended to Computational Intelligence for applied research. The contributions to the 10th of FLINS conference cover state-of-the-art research, development, and technology for computational intelligence systems, both from the foundations and the applications points-of-view. Sample Chapter(s). Foreword (55 KB). Evaluation of Manufacturing Technology of Photovoltaic Cells (124 KB). Contents: Decision Making and Decision Support Systems; Uncertainty Modeling; Foundations of Computational Intelligence; Statistics, Data Analysis and Data Mining; Intelligent Information Processing; Productivity and Reliability; Applied Research. Readership: Graduate students, researchers, and academics in artificial intelligence/machine learning, information management, decision sciences, databases/information sciences and fuzzy logic.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the International Conference on Computational Intelligence held in Dortmund, Germany, as the 5th Fuzzy Days, in April 1997. Besides three invited contributions, the book presents 53 revised full papers selected from a total of 130 submissions. Also included are 35 posters documenting a broad scope of applications of computational intelligence techniques in a variety of areas. The volume addresses all current issues in computational intelligence, e.g. fuzzy logic, fuzzy control, neural networks, evolutionary algorithms, genetic programming, neuro-fuzzy systems, adaptation and learning, machine learning, etc.
This book analyzes some of the most recent advances in the field of decision making and fuzzy systems applied to business and economics presented at the International Conference on Modeling and Simulation (MS'12 Rio de Janeiro), 10–13 December, 2012. In this conference, a special focus is given to the fundamental concept of sustainable development. Other key applications in business, economics and finance are also considered. In general, it is very useful for graduate students and researchers interested in pursuing research that combines quantitative techniques such as modeling and simulation and decision making with business and economic problems. This is especially useful when dealing with complex environments where the information is very uncertain and additional mathematical and statistical techniques are needed in order to understand the specific situations considered.
In recent decades Multimedia processing has emerged as an important technology to generate content based on images, video, audio, graphics, and text. This book is a compilation of the latest trends and developments in the field of computational intelligence in multimedia processing. The edited book presents a large number of interesting applications to intelligent multimedia processing of various Computational Intelligence techniques including neural networks and fuzzy logic.
In recent years the Internet has become a source of data and information of indisputable importance and has immensely gained in acceptance and popularity. The World Wide Web (WWW or Web, for short), frequently named “the nervous system of the infor- tion society,” offers numerous valuable services leaving no doubt about the signi?cance of the Web in our daily activities at work and at home. Consequently, we have a clear aspiration to meet the obvious need for effective use of its potential by making - provements in both the methods and the technology applied. Among the new research directions observable in Web-related applications, intelligent methods from within the broadly perceived to...
Fuzzy implication functions are one of the main operations in fuzzy logic. They generalize the classical implication, which takes values in the set {0,1}, to fuzzy logic, where the truth values belong to the unit interval [0,1]. These functions are not only fundamental for fuzzy logic systems, fuzzy control, approximate reasoning and expert systems, but they also play a significant role in mathematical fuzzy logic, in fuzzy mathematical morphology and image processing, in defining fuzzy subsethood measures and in solving fuzzy relational equations. This volume collects 8 research papers on fuzzy implication functions. Three articles focus on the construction methods, on different ways of gen...
