Thomas Highsmith was born in about 1758 in North Carolina. His parents were Daniel Highsmith and Lucretia Parker. He married Sarah Wood, daughter of Richard Wood and Rebecca, in about 1777. They had thirteen children. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in England, Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Illinois, Montana, Oregon and California.
