The Basics of Christianity
Six lessons for Junior Highers that cover the basics of being a Christian. The first three lessons explore who God is: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Students will discover that God loves them no matter what, that Jesus Christ is the only way to have a relationship with God and the Holy Spirit lights the way to God. The last three lessons explore our relationship with God, illustrating that everyone is a sinner and how to let the love of Jesus overcome our sin. Students will learn how God's grace rescues us and that we are to serve Him out of love and gratitude for His gift of grace. Miracles of Jesus
Teens are increasingly interested in -- and even experimenting with -- supernatural elements. This study points students to the true supernatural power of Jesus Christ. From the miracle of raising Lazarus to Christ's own resurrection and ascension, students will be filled with awe and amazement that the eternally powerful Christ wants a personal relationship with them. Key themes throughout show the balance Christ showed between His power to heal and to cast out demons, and His tenderness to love and care for His disciples and followers -- and for us. The student article encourages students to live a radical lifestyle of worship.
Followers of Jesus
This study will look first at lesser-known followers of Jesus (Mary, Martha and Zaccheus) to show students that Jesus wants spending time with Him to be our biggest priority and that we should trust Him with the gifts He has given us. Students will then meet followers never addressed by name in the Bible (the paralytic's four friends, the widow, the leper and the centurion), and learn that God desires and is able to work through every one of His followers -- not just the famous ones. The youth worker article by Laurie Polich encourages leaders to use these stories to teach junior highers that we are all superstars in God's eyes and we each have a purpose in His divine Plan. The student article encourages godly attitudes toward money and material possessions.
Life at School
The first sessions of this study illustrate how junior highers' relationships with God affect their daily lives -- even at school. Students will learn that stress is something they can turn over to God; that not fitting in can be a good thing; and how living a life of integrity means walking the talk. The last three sessions will turn students' focus on everyday challenges to their walk with Jesus such as gossip, difficult teachers and cliques. The youth worker article encourages teachers to challenge their students to make a difference on their campus by giving teens the gift of vision and the gift of affirmation. The student article is a four-step guide to help them make a difference on their campuses.
Feelings and Emotions
Provides lesson outlines to teach junior high school students about their emotions and feelings, discussing how a relationship with Jesus will help them achieve everlasting love and comfort.
