Olav Tomassen Sandness was born in 1703 in Norway. He married Siri Nilsdotter in about 1727 and they had six children. Sixth generation descendant, Jorgen Olsen Sannes was born 10 June 1857 in Sandness, Satersdahlen, Norway. He married Ingeborg Grundesdotter Vassend 10 January 1890. They had eight children. They emigrated in 1890 and settled in McIntosh, Minnesota. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Minnesota and North Dakota.
