This book details the process of building a Chinese-English machine translation system that automatically translates Chinese recipes into English through machine processing without human intervention (TransRecipe). This system is able to translate recipes into pictures and videos (VisualRecipe) through image technology and develop a system that generates a recipe from a video on dish preparation (GenRecipe) through deep learning. Recipe processing is covered in four parts across ten chapters. The first part, Translating Recipes, studies the machine processing of different parts of recipes for the construction of the TransRecipe system. The second part, Visualizing Recipes, is about the creation of the VisualRecipe system through image technology and a demonstration of its operations in practice. The third part, Generating Recipes, is about recipe creation through deep learning and the creation of the GenRecipe system. Lastly, the book concludes by looking into the future of recipe technology. The title is a vital read for researchers and students in translation technology, multimodal translation, and techno-humanities.
Sun, Liu, Moratto, and the team of contributors provide an in-depth exploration of the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) in the ever-evolving field of translation studies. With key insights to inform future research on this rapidly evolving field in translation, this book offers a comprehensive understanding of the implications of AI, particularly ChatGPT, across technical, pedagogical, and ethical dimensions. From the evolution of translation competence and quality assessment to methodological shifts in research and pedagogy, the authors shed light on the capabilities and limitations of AI, offering insights into its potential within the realm of translation studies. With fresh perspectives on the intersection of AI and translation studies, the chapters cover critical topics such as evaluating translation quality, translator training, corpus translation studies, and ethical considerations in translation education. China has granted Hong Kong a high degree of autonomy through the Basic Law under the principle of “one country, two systems”. Hong Kong’s legal system under the Basic Law is based on the common law and is administered by independent courts. By interpreting the Basic Law, Hong Kong’s courts have reviewed legislation and executive decisions, and have achieved a “second founding” of the Basic Law as an enforceable constitution. This book is the first comprehensive account of how the Hong Kong courts gained this vital power of judicial review. Through an analysis of important court cases since 1997, the book also examines how the Hong Kong courts maintain their relationships with th...

Derived from the renowned multi-volume International Encyclopaedia of Laws, this practical analysis of sports law in Hong Kong deals with the regulation of sports activity by both public authorities and private sports organizations. The growing internationalization of sports inevitably increases the weight of global regulation, yet each country maintains its own distinct regime of sports law and its own national and local sports organizations. Sports law at a national or organizational level thus gains a growing relevance in comparative law. The book describes and discusses both state-created rules and autonomous self-regulation regarding the variety of economic, social, commercial, cultural...
