John Jarnagin (1748-1816) was probably born in Virginia and married Mary Smith. They became the parents of nine children and eventually settled in Ohio. Later generations settled in Ohio, Tennessee, Missouri and a large number in Iowa. Descendants presently live in Iowa, California and other parts of the United States.
Garvis Gilbert (ca. 1680-1739) married twice. First to Margaret, who died in 1715 and then to Mary. He died the same year his fifteenth child was born. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, (later West Virginia), Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas, Arizona and elsewhere.

He moved to Hartford, Connecticut in 1636, and to Farmington, Connecticut in 1646, and married twice (once in England). Descendants and relatives lived in New England, New York, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, California and elsewhere.
