This book discusses the connectivity between major chemicals, showing how a chemical is made along with why and some of the business considerations. The book helps smooth a student’s transition to industry and assists current professionals who need to understand the larger picture of industrial chemistry principles and practices. The book: Addresses a wide scope of content, emphasizing the business and polymer / pharmaceutical / agricultural aspects of industrial chemistry Covers patenting, experimental design, and systematic optimization of experiments Written by an author with extensive industrial experience but who is now a university professor, making him uniquely positioned to present this material Has problems at the end of chapters and a separate solution manual available for adopting professors Puts chemical industry topics in context and ties together many of the principles chemistry majors learn across more specific courses
This book provides a comprehensive overview of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and their growing significance in environmental applications. With their highly ordered, porous structures and tunable properties, COFs offer innovative solutions for challenges such as water purification, air filtration, and pollutant degradation. This book introduces the fundamentals of COF synthesis, structure, and properties while highlighting recent research advances and practical applications. Emphasizing both theoretical insights and real-world relevance, it explores how molecular design and structural engineering can enhance COF performance. This resource is ideal for researchers, students, and professionals focused on sustainable materials and environmental remediation technologies. Features: Highlights the use of COFs in water purification, air filtration, and pollutant degradation. Explores both fundamental mechanisms and practical challenges in environmental applications of COFs. Combines recent research, synthesis methods, and real-world case studies in an accessible format. Serves as a valuable resource for researchers, students, and professionals in environmental and materials science.
The book builds on the analogy between social groups and assemblies of molecules to introduce the concepts of statistical mechanics, machine learning and data science. Applying a data analytics approach to molecular systems, we show how individual (molecular) features and interactions between molecules, or "communication" processes, allow for the prediction of properties and collective behavior of molecular systems - just as polling and social networking shed light on the behavior of social groups. Applications to systems at the cutting-edge of research for biological, environmental, and energy applications are also presented. Key features: Draws on a data analytics approach of molecular systems Covers hot topics such as artificial intelligence and machine learning of molecular trends Contains applications to systems at the cutting-edge of research for biological, environmental and energy applications Discusses molecular simulation and links with other important, emerging techniques and trends in computational sciences and society Authors have a well-established track record and reputation in the field
Faculties, publications and doctoral theses in departments or divisions of chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry and pharmaceutical and/or medicinal chemistry at universities in the United States and Canada.
