Intellectual Disability and Ireland, 1947–1996 explores the varied experiences of the intellectually disabled during the latter half of the mid-twentieth century in Ireland. Addressing the evolution of disability policies and provision, it shows how a range of different actors became engaged in shaping the disability services landscape during this period. Drawing on a variety of sources, from government memoranda to RTÉ television programmes, David Kilgannon traces the development of disability services on paper and in reality. This narrative is marked by instances of both striking transformation and significant continuity, as the emergence of new policy thinking occurred in tandem with the consolidation of established approaches. The book describes not only how services changed but why, offering a unique perspective on the evolution of Irish social policy in the post-war years.

Every effort has been used to identify winners and runners up of tournaments and in some cases there will be results “missing”. If these can be identified they will be included in another edition of this book in the future. There maybe errors with names being mispelt and that ladies surnames may have changed. An enormous amount of time and effort to correctly record the results of the tournaments. This is the tenth ebook to be published detailing tournament results. I hope you enjoy the book.
Sculpture and Social Dynamics in Preclassic Mesoamerica
This book examines the functions of sculpture during the Preclassic period in Mesoamerica and its significance in statements of social identity. Julia Guernsey situates the origins and evolution of monumental stone sculpture within a broader social and political context and demonstrates the role that such sculpture played in creating and institutionalizing social hierarchies. This book focuses specifically on an enigmatic type of public, monumental sculpture known as the 'potbelly' that traces its antecedents to earlier, small domestic ritual objects and ceramic figurines. The cessation of domestic rituals involving ceramic figurines along the Pacific slope coincided not only with the creation of the first monumental potbelly sculptures, but with the rise of the first state-level societies in Mesoamerica by the advent of the Late Preclassic period. The potbellies became central to the physical representation of new forms of social identity and expressions of political authority during this time of dramatic change.

The main tournaments have been identified - Canadian Open, Klondike Open, Quebec Open, Canadian National Championships, plus many more.
