Communicating the Middle Ages
This volume is a collection of nineteen original essays by leading specialists on the history, historiography and memory of the Crusades, the social and cultural aspects of life in the Latin East, as well as the military orders and inter-religious relations in the Middle Ages. Intended to appeal to scholars and students alike, the volume honours Professor Sophia Menache of the Department of History, University of Haifa, Israel. The contributions reflect the richness of Professor Menache's research interests - medieval communications, the Church and the Papacy in the central and later Middle Ages, the Crusades and the military orders, as well as the memory and historiography of the Crusades.
A Cumulative Bibliography of Medieval Military History and Technology
This is the second update of "A Cumulative Bibliography of Medieval Military History and Technology," which appeared in 2002. It is meant to do two things: to present references to works on medieval military history and technology not included in the first two volumes; and to present references to all books and articles published on medieval military history and technology from 2003 to 2006. These references are divided into the same categories as in the first two volumes and cover a chronological period of the same length, from late antiquity to 1648, again in order to present a more complete picture of influences on and from the Middle Ages. It also continues to cover the same geographical area as the first and second volume, in essence Europe and the Middle East, or, again, influences on and from this area. The languages of these bibliographical references reflect this geography.

Fear and Loathing in the North
Due to the scarcity of sources regarding actual Jewish and Muslim communities and settlements, there has until now been little work on either the perception of or encounters with Muslims and Jews in medieval Scandinavia and the Baltic Region. The volume provides the reader with the possibility to appreciate and understand the complexity of Jewish-Christian-Muslim relations in the medieval North. The contributions cover topics such as cultural and economic exchange between Christians and members of other religions; evidence of actual Jews and Muslims in the Baltic Rim; images and stereotypes of the Other. The volume thus presents a previously neglected field of research that will help nuance the overall picture of interreligious relations in medieval Europe.

Medieval Spirituality in Scandinavia and Europe
Tore Nyberg, senior lecturer at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense, celebrated his seventieth birthday on January 4, 2001. For that occasion a group of his colleagues and former pupils have wished to pay homage to Tore Nyberg with a festschrift. His is a household name in Birgittine studies, but he has made valuable contributions within a number of other fields: the introduction and growth of Christianity in Scandinavia; the integration of Scandinavia and the Baltic Region in the cultural sphere of the Latin West, always with an eye to relations with and influences from the East; urban history; and monasticism in general. Within all these fields he has mastered both the detailed study and the comprehensive synthesis.
