This Community Engagement (CE) toolkit provides the relevant guidelines for a CE programme/project to achieve sustainable development goals across a broad spectrum using local innovations and creative problem-solving approaches. Using the quadruple helix concept, CE programme/project will involve the four stakeholders of Institutions, Industry, Community and Government Agency to collaborate and share ideas in ensuring the success and significant impact of CE programme/project/ This toolkit will also share the best practices of past CE programme/project which consist of comprehensive guidance and resources in designing impactful and sustainable projects. This toolkit can be customized and innovatively applied to address specific issues and/or development in the targeted community.
Climate Conscious Low-Energy Tropical Built Environment is a welcome addition to the knowledge on green and sustainable architecture. Both the authors shared their vast knowledge and experience on low-energy and passive solar design. The approach is on the technology adapted and applied to ‘welcoming the sun’ as well as to ‘rejecting the sun’, with the emphasis on the passive elements design. As the world now is facing the rapid increase of population, the architects need to consider the future path of the built environment. A good knowledge in low-energy built environment in order to sustain the well-being of the earth is essential, before considering on the aspects of mechanical co...

Bioremediation: A Sustainable Approach to Preserving Earth’s Water discusses the latest research in green chemistry practices and principles that are involved in water remediation and the quality improvement of water. The presence of heavy metals, dyes, fluoride, dissolved solids and many other pollutants are responsible for water pollution and poor water quality. The removal of these pollutants in water resources is necessary, yet challenging. Water preservation is of great importance globally and researchers are making significant progress in ensuring this precious commodity is safe and potable. This volume illustrates how bioremediation in particular is a promising green technique globally. Features: Addresses bioremediation of all the major water pollutants Approaches the chemistry of water and the concept of water as a renewable resource from a green chemistry aspect Discusses environmental chemistry and the practice of industrial ecology Explains the global concern of adequate high quality water supplies, and how bioremediation can resolve this Explores sustainable development through green engineering

This book gathers the proceedings of the Seventh International Conference on Computational Science and Technology (ICCST 2021), held in Labuan, Malaysia, on 28–29 August 2021. The respective contributions offer practitioners and researchers a range of new computational techniques and solutions, identify emerging issues, and outline future research directions, while also showing them how to apply the latest large-scale, high-performance computational methods.
In building sufficient, efficient human resources, massification of higher education is a common phenomenon. It is to this end that sustainability and inclusiveness have become such critical issues in higher education and its literature. This book looks into the major question of financial sustainability for the higher education institution, revealing the university's struggles in the face of limited public funds. Coping strategies and feasible alternatives are extensively examined. The authors also tackle the area of higher education systems and collaboration in ensuring sustainability. Here, matters such as the public-private equilibrium, sustainable alumni networks, and research and publication competitiveness are deliberated. One distinguishing feature of this publication, however, is its discourse on higher education access, giving unique insight into the plight of certain underrepresented groups in higher education. The writers champion inclusiveness by analysing and recommending the best practices in bolstering these marginalised factions towards academic success. Readers will certainly gain a more profound understanding of sustainable and inclusive higher education.
