Efficient Optimization and Processing of Queries Over Text-rich Graph-structured Data
Many databases today capture both, structured and unstructured data. Making use of such hybrid data has become an important topic in research and industry. The efficient evaluation of hybrid data queries is the main topic of this thesis. Novel techniques are proposed that improve the whole processing pipeline, from indexes and query optimization to run-time processing. The contributions are evaluated in extensive experiments showing that the proposed techniques improve upon the state of the art.
Transactions on Large-Scale Data- and Knowledge-Centered Systems LI
The LNCS journal Transactions on Large-Scale Data and Knowledge-Centered Systems focuses on data management, knowledge discovery, and knowledge processing, which are core and hot topics in computer science. Since the 1990s, the Internet has become the main driving force behind application development in all domains. An increase in the demand for resource sharing (e.g., computing resources, services, metadata, data sources) across different sites connected through networks has led to an evolution of data- and knowledge-management systems from centralized systems to decentralized systems enabling large-scale distributed applications providing high scalability. Heterogeneous Data Management, Polystores, and Analytics for Healthcare
This book constitutes the refereed post-conference proceedings of International Workshops: Polystores and other Systems for Heterogeneous Data, Poly 2018, and Data Management and Analytics for Medicine and Healthcare, DMAH 2018, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in August 2018, held in conjunction with the 44th International Conference on Very Large Data Bases, VLDB 2018.
