Fog and edge computing are two paradigms that have emerged to address the challenges associated with processing and managing data in the era of the Internet of Things (IoT). Both models involve moving computation and data storage closer to the source of data generation, but they have subtle differences in their architectures and scopes. These differences are one of the subjects covered in Optimizing Edge and Fog Computing Applications with AI and Metaheuristic Algorithms. Other subjects covered in the book include: Designing machine learning (ML) algorithms that are aware of the resource constraints at the edge and fog layers ensures efficient use of computational resources Resource-aware mo...

The Quest for Press Freedom is a book about press development and freedom in Ethiopia, with a focus on the state media. It examines the building of a modern media institution over the last one hundred years of its existence, and the restrictions against its freedoms. The significance of this work lies in its originality and that it addresses these two issues across three distinct epochs: the monarchy era, the Marxist military regime, and the current ethnic federalist regime. The book examines the political and social situations in each of these periods, and analyzes the effects they had on the media. The book also provides examples of how journalists working for the government-run media have a strong desire to exercise their constitutional right to press freedom. In the final chapter, Reta offers recommendations for a more viable media system in Ethiopia.
The official historiography of the Ethiopian Empire as well as the majority of the publications on Ethiopian history by European authors used to view the country as a single cultural whole, and to deal only with the history of the Christian empire. The different historical experiences of the Ethiopian multiethnic society and culture used to be usually ignored. In contrast to such one-sided approach this book deals with the Macca Oromo activities, social transformation and historical experiences in the western part of Central Ethiopia, focusing on the political economy of the region. The sources for the book include: 1. written documents in Ethiopian languages (Amharic and Ge'ez), e.g. archiv...
This book explores the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with the Internet of Things (IoT) to address security challenges in smart environments. It delves into how AI enhances the governance of information security by automating processes, detecting threats, and ensuring the protection of data in interconnected IoT systems. It covers theoretical foundations, practical frameworks, and case studies, offering insights into securing smart cities, homes, industries, and healthcare systems. It also emphasizes governance models that leverage AI to manage security policies and risk in dynamic, data-driven ecosystems. This title focuses on the study and application of AI of Things in the field of information security governance. Intelligent environments, characterized by increasing connectivity of devices and systems, present unique challenges for information security. The use of AI of Things offers opportunities to enhance security in these complex environments.
