This book describes in a comprehensive manner latest studies conducted by various research groups worldwide focusing on carbon and related nanomaterials. Fourteen chapters of this book deal with a number of key research topics and applications of pure and functionalized carbon nanomaterials and their hybrid nanocomposites. Specifically, the authors have presented interdisciplinary investigations including: (i) carbon nanoparticles and layers synthesis, (ii) analytical aspects of carbon nanomaterials and their characterisation under different conditions as well as (iii) various applications of carbon nanoparticles. They have reported and summarised key applications of carbon particles or nanoobjects in pharmacy, biomedicine, agriculture and food industry, water treatment, physicochemical analysis, optoelectronics, electronic and magnetic materials for supercapacitors or radar adsorbing materials, tribology, chromatography, electrophoresis, bioanalysis, nanobiocatalysis, biofuels production as well as environmental remediation.
In this work from leading figures in the field, Lee, Lee, and Lin describe methods of integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) and artificial intelligence-aided radio systems to provide improved efficiency and performance to wireless users using next-generation (6G) communications systems. The authors provide the tools to master four major considerations of 6G systems: knowledge of communication systems, knowledge of radar systems, understanding of ISAC systems, and machine learning-based enhancements. Wireless Communications and Sensing: Fundamentals, Signal Processing, and Machine Learning Solutions begins by providing preliminary information regarding communication and radar systems, i...
Functional Materials for the Oil and Gas Industry: Characterization and Applications discusses the latest techniques in characterization and applications of functional materials in the oil and gas industry. It provides an expert review of recent developments in a variety of materials, such as ceramics, composites, and alloys, and covers all major aspects relevant to the industry, including asset management (corrosion), operation (pipeline engineering), energy management, and applications in extreme environments. This book: Discusses modern characterization techniques, such as in situ TEM, SAXS, SANS, X-ray, and neutron tomography Covers conventional and advanced nondestructive techniques (ND...
This book contains selected papers given at an interdisciplinary conference about "The Perceptions of China: Images of a Global Player," which took place in Hong Kong in March 2006. The articles deal with different images and perceptions of China in the past and present, and analyze the power of images, not only from a Western but also from an Eastern/Chinese perspective.
(Screen World). The 2006 edition of Screen World highlights the surprise Academy Award-winner for Best Picture, Crash, featuring Matt Dillon, Terrence Howard, and Sandra Bullock, which also won Academy Awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Film Editing; the groundbreaking gay love story Brokeback Mountain, winner of three Academy Awards, with Oscar-nominated performances by Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal; the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, which earned a Best Actress Academy Award for Reese Witherspoon and a Best Actor nomination for Joaquin Phoenix; Philip Seymour Hoffman's uncanny, Oscar-winning Best Actor impersonation of Truman Capote in Capote; Best Supporting Actress winner...
