On a little-known 1970s experiment in pneumatic architecture by the Belgian architect and Atelier Alpha cofounder A.J. Lode Janssens (born 1947) is one of Belgium's most idiosyncratic architects and a radical educator. He was cofounder of the experimental studio Atelier Alpha and the Sint-Lucas Werkgemeenschap, a workshop linking architectural education, practice and research, and operated in close collaboration with ILAUD, the International Laboratory of Architecture and Urban Design. A.J. Lode Janssens: 1,47 mbarpresents The Balloon, an all-but-unknown temporary pneumatic home experiment, built in 1973 in Humbeek, where he lived with his family until 1986. Lode Janssens considered it an uncompromising ephemeral attempt at de-architecturalization and living in harmony with nature: a cave-dwelling, a work-in-progress, an empirical residence. High-Tech Architektur - Innovatives Konstruktionserbe erhalten Die High-Tech Architektur der 1970er–1990er Jahre zeichnet sich durch den Einsatz und die Zurschaustellung fortschrittlicher Technologien aus. Das Erscheinungsbild der Gebäude ist geprägt von innovativen Fassaden, farblich betonten Tragkonstruktionen und expressiv zur Schau gestellten Haustechniksystemen. Bedauerlicherweise führt das rasche Veraltern technischer Innovationen jedoch häufig zum vollständigen Ersatz der die Architektur wesentlich bestimmenden Systeme. Simulation Modeling
The book presents some recent specialized works of a theoretical and practical nature in the field of simulation modeling, which is being addressed to a large number of specialists, mathematicians, doctors, engineers, economists, professors, and students. The book comprises 11 chapters that promote modern mathematical algorithms and simulation modeling techniques, in practical applications, in the following thematic areas: mathematics, biomedicine, systems of systems, materials science and engineering, energy systems, and economics. This project presents scientific papers and applications that emphasize the capabilities of simulation modeling methods, helping readers to understand the phenomena that take place in the real world, the conditions of their development, and their effects, at a high scientific and technical level. The authors have published work examples and case studies that resulted from their researches in the field. The readers get new solutions and answers to questions related to the emerging applications of simulation modeling and their advantages.

The Library reflects not only six centuries of University history, but also many chapters of European history and even world history in the last century. A president of the United States played a leading role, and a Japanese emperor also figures in it. The Library, built with American funds, was conceived as an American memorial to the Great War of 1914-1918. All this means the Library is not merely another university building. The past has imbued it with the higher values that survive human conflict. The University Library has been in full development since 1970. With its historic collection, the Maurits Sabbe Library is a living research centre for matters of religion and theology. The Arenberg Campus Library, a science library housed in a sixteenth-century monastery, combines technology and heritage. The various branch libraries range from law and philosophy to medicine, from ancient colleges in the heart of Leuven to the university hospital on the edge of the town.
