Developer-planner Interaction in Transportation and Land Use Sustainability
The study examines the demand for, as well as obstacles to, alternative development at the national as well as local scale. Alternative residential developments are those that are higher-density, compact and pedestrian-oriented, and/or consisting of mixed-land uses, especially as compared to the conventional, low-density, land-use-segregated, and automobile-oriented residential developments found in most American suburbs. The authors conducted a national survey of developers and studies four recent alternative developments in suburban locations built in California and in Michigan.

Institutional Reform and Transboundary Cooperation for Environmental Planning Along the United States-Mexican Border
Two bilingual surveys were conducted for this study. A web-based survey of border experts was conducted to evaluate the integrity of the new institutional framework. A second survey of organizations was conducted to assess the impact of the new institutions on transboundary collaboration.
