The purpose of this edited book is to present and showcase the basic fundamentals, applications, and integration of both IoT and Blockchain. The trend of applying Blockchain to IoT is rapidly growing because it helps to overcome various challenges faced by IoT, from smart manufacturing to unmanned aerial vehicles. Thise book aims to showcase the basics of both IoT and Blockchain as well as the integration and challenges for existing practitioners. Thise book initiates conversations among technologists, engineers, scientists, and clinicians to synergize their efforts in producing low-cost, high-performance, highly efficient, deployable IoT systems. Thise book is theory-based and is useful for engineers from various disciplines, including industrial engineering, computer science, electronics, telecommunications, electrical, agricultural, and cybersecurity, along with researchers, professionals, and students.
This book constitutes the joint refereed proceedings of the 13 International Conference on Next Generation Teletraffic and Wired/Wireless Advanced Networking, NEW2AN, and the 6th Conference on Internet of Things and Smart Spaces, ruSMART 2013, held in St. Petersburg, Russia, in August 2013. The total of 38 papers was carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in this book. The 14 papers selected from ruSMART are organized in topical sections named: internet on things, smart spaces technologies; and smart systems. The 24 papers from NEW2AN deal with the following topics: performance and efficiency analysis, network and transport layer issues; cognitive radio networks; sensor and mesh networks; upper layer protocols and applications; ad-hoc, cellular and satellite networks.
This book offers a collection of selected papers presented at the Seventh International Conference on ICT Innovations held in October 2015, in Ohrid, Macedonia, with main topic Emerging Technologies for Better Living. The conference gathered academics, professionals and industrial practitioners that work on developing the emerging technologies, systems, applications in the industrial and business arena especially innovative commercial implementations, novel application of technology, and experience in applying recent ICT research advances to practical solutions.
With the continual development of professional industries in today’s modernized world, certain technologies have become increasingly applicable. Cyber-physical systems, specifically, are a mechanism that has seen rapid implementation across numerous fields. This is a technology that is constantly evolving, so specialists need a handbook of research that keeps pace with the advancements and methodologies of these devices. Tools and Technologies for the Development of Cyber-Physical Systems is an essential reference source that discusses recent advancements of cyber-physical systems and its application within the health, information, and computer science industries. Featuring research on topics such as autonomous agents, power supply methods, and software assessment, this book is ideally designed for data scientists, technology developers, medical practitioners, computer engineers, researchers, academicians, and students seeking coverage on the development and various applications of cyber-physical systems.
The implementation of data and information analysis has become a trending solution within multiple professions. New tools and approaches are continually being developed within data analysis to further solve the challenges that come with professional strategy. Pattern recognition is an innovative method that provides comparison techniques and defines new characteristics within the information acquisition process. Despite its recent trend, a considerable amount of research regarding pattern recognition and its various strategies is lacking. Pattern Recognition Applications in Engineering is an essential reference source that discusses various strategies of pattern recognition algorithms within industrial and research applications and provides examples of results in different professional areas including electronics, computation, and health monitoring. Featuring research on topics such as condition monitoring, data normalization, and bio-inspired developments, this book is ideally designed for analysts; researchers; civil, mechanical, and electronic engineers; computing scientists; chemists; academicians; and students.

The first volume of Ladies in the Laboratory provided a systematic survey and comparison of the work of nineteenth-century American and British women in scientific research. Companion volumes focused on women scientists from Western Europe and the former British colonial territories of South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. In Ladies in the Laboratory IV, Mary R.S. Creese expands her scope to include the contributions of nineteenth-century women of Imperial Russia. Many of these women believed that science was the key to social progress, and the great advances in scientific research—work in which Russians had leading roles—made scientific training especially attractive. This book reports on theoretical and experimental research answering key questions in neuroscience, philosophy of mind, and cognitive research. It gives a special emphasis on findings achieved within the territory of the former U.S.S.R, which has remained largely unknown to an international readership. The volume gathers authoritative studies on cognitive development, consciousness, attention and perception. It covers research on eye movements, language, speech and semantics, emotion, as well as brain functional states, and a variety of decision-making processes. It also highlights important advances in cognitive robotics and artificial intelligence, discussing brain-computer interfaces and ...
This volume presents a synthesis of existing work on the Bronze Age of the Caspian Steppes. In particular Natalia Shishlina evaluates the data for funeral rites and their material culture, identifying different cultures and proposing a chronology for cultural change in the region.
