Towards a New CISG
In Towards a New CISG, Leandro Tripodi discusses the aging and need for renovation of the 1980 Vienna Sales Convention. Changes in global political circumstances and to the economy of international sales of goods have rendered the 1980 CISG a dated legal instrument. Its recognized flexibility is not sufficient to cope with past and, especially, with future changes brought about by the introduction of new technologies affecting all kinds of goods subject to trade. In light of the challenges posed by 21st-century commerce, Dr. Tripodi proposes the adoption of a Convention on the International Sale of Goods and Services (CISGS). The idea of a new convention is based on the following facts: 1) goods and services are no longer as distinguishable as they were in 1980; 2) sales of goods and sales (i.e., the provision) of services are not as easy to apportion as the CISG supposes and can hardly continue to be treated separately by the legal sources of international trade.

Food Safety Law in China
This book is the first major study of the making of transnational food safety law in China. Francis Snyder shows how the 2008 melamine infant formula crisis led to China’s first food safety law and new food safety standards, substantial reforms in government policy and closer relations with international organisations. He also identifies current and future challenges and makes recommendations for dealing with them. Chinese food safety law today is influenced strongly by cross-border factors. While transnational regimes help to shape domestic decisions, many institutions deeply embedded in Chinese society have played key roles in this transformation. Francis Snyder emphasises that, in finding its own path toward ensuring food safety, China can both learn from and teach other countries. Air Defence Identification Zones and Maritime Frontier Disputes
The book clarifies key conceptual issues surrounding ADIZs and their influence on maritime territorial disputes in the context of the Senkaku/Diaoyu island dispute. It uniquely offers a detailed analysis of national legislation on ADIZ, suggesting that ADIZ might be evolving customary international law. The book demonstrates that aerial zones do not necessarily violate the freedom of overflight, as the airspace above the EEZ may have a dual legal status, allowing for sui generis zones. Furthermore, it shows that ADIZs do not conflict with fundamental principles of international air law or the ICAO-Council's authority to establish rules in international airspace.
