This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Workshop on Distributed Computing for Emerging Smart Networks, DiCES-N 2020, held in Bizerte, Tunisia, in December 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held online. The 8 full papers included in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers are organized in the following topical sections: intelligent transportation systems; emerging networking technologies; artificial intelligence and internet of things.
It is an undisputed reality that the tourism industry in Asia is getting exposed to more innovative technologies than ever before. This proposed book provides the latest research in the application of innovative technology to the tourism industry, covering the perspectives, innovativeness, theories, issues, complexities, opportunities and challenges. This book, a blend of comprehensive and extensive effort by the contributors and editors, is designed to cover the application and practice of technology in tourism, including the relevant niches. This book focuses on the importance of technology in tourism. This also highlights, in a comprehensive manner, specific technologies that are impactin...
The book details deep learning models like ANN, RNN, LSTM, in many industrial sectors such as transportation, healthcare, military, agriculture, with valid and effective results, which will help researchers find solutions to their deep learning research problems. We have entered the era of smart world devices, where robots or machines are being used in most applications to solve real-world problems. These smart machines/devices reduce the burden on doctors, which in turn make their lives easier and the lives of their patients better, thereby increasing patient longevity, which is the ultimate goal of computer vision. Therefore, the goal in writing this book is to attempt to provide complete ...
This book is a collection of high-quality peer-reviewed research papers presented at the Ninth International Conference on Cyber-Security, Privacy in Communication Networks (ICCS 2023) held at Cardiff School of Technologies, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cardiff, UK, during 11–12 December 2023. This book presents recent innovations in the field of cyber-security and privacy in communication networks in addition to cutting edge research in the field of next-generation communication networks.
This book brings together research that advances our understanding of the fundamental relationship between board diversity and different aspects of corporate governance, including corporate governance disclosures, board performance, governance characteristics, and ownership structure. The expertly selected chapters deal with related (but not limited) to the following topics: Corporate governance models and diversity; forms of diversity and decisions in the boardroom; Board diversity, corporate disclosure, and intellectual capital disclosures; shareholder activism; differences between private and family firms; Board diversity laws; gender and ethnicity on boards, and going beyond gender aspects of diversity. This book is particularly useful for researchers and practitioner think tanks to understand the state of the art in board diversity research.
This Open Access book investigates the methodological and ethical dilemmas involved when working with digital technologies and large-scale datasets in relation to ethnographic studies of digital migration practices and trajectories. Digital technologies reshape not only every phase of the migration process itself (by providing new ways to access, to share and preserve relevant information) but also the activities of other actors, from solidarity networks to border control agencies. In doing so, digital technologies create a whole new set of ethical and methodological challenges for migration studies: from data access to data interpretation, privacy protection, and research ethics more genera...
Digital Culture & Society is a refereed, international journal, fostering discussion about the ways in which digital technologies, platforms and applications reconfigure daily lives and practices. It offers a forum for inquiries into digital media theory, methodologies, and socio-technological developments. This issue presents empirical studies as well as theoretical and methodological reflections on inequalities and divides in digital cultures. From various (inter-)disciplinary perspectives, the authors examine three main themes – inequality of access, inequality by design and discursive divides, and inequality by algorithms – while suggesting ways for research to move beyond these.
Smart city is synchronized with digital environment and its transportation system is vitalized with RFID sensors, Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence. However, without user's behavioral assessment of technology, the ultimate usefulness of smart mobility cannot be achieved. This paper aims to formulate the research framework for prediction of antecedents of smart mobility by using SEM-Neural hybrid approach towards preliminary data analysis. This research undertook smart mobility service adoption in Malaysia as study perspective and applied the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as theoretical basis. An extended TAM model was hypothesized with five external factors (digital de...
