The Congressional Record is the official record of the proceedings and debates of the United States Congress. It is published daily when Congress is in session. The Congressional Record began publication in 1873. Debates for sessions prior to 1873 are recorded in The Debates and Proceedings in the Congress of the United States (1789-1824), the Register of Debates in Congress (1824-1837), and the Congressional Globe (1833-1873)
Memoirs of a Jew born in 1932 in Bedek (near Szatmár) to a hasidic family. Pp. 101-241 discuss the Nazi period. In May 1944 Edelstein's family was transferred to the ghetto of Szatmár. Several weeks later they were deported to Auschwitz. Edelstein was sent for forced labor to the Buna factory. In January 1945 he was taken on a death march to Gleiwitz, from where he was transported to the Dora labor camp in Germany. He was evacuated three months later to Bergen-Belsen and liberated by the British army. Two of his brothers survived the Holocaust. After the war Edelstein immigrated to the U.S.
