As part of documenta fifteen, ruangrupa in Indonesia is publishing two issues of a magazine, majalah that hones in on the core idea of the exhibition – collective working. The lumbung component in the title refers to the communal rice barn where Indonesian farmers store surplus crops to share. The two issues, Harvesting and Sharing, will be published together in one volume to accompany the exhibition. With short stories and features by leading journalists, researchers, and writers from Indonesia, majalah lumbung touches on topics such as cosmology or architecture, food or eating together, thereby forming a foundation for the content featured at documenta fifteen. The individual contributions are conveyed through numerous illustrations and an attractive layout in magazine quality.
Kakawin Sumanasantaka
Kakawin Sumanasantaka, puisi epik abad ke-13 karya Mpu Monaguna, adalah sebuah gubahan kedalam bahasa Jawa Kuno dari cerita Kalidasa tentang Pangeran Aja dan Putri Indumati yang dikisahkan dalam Raghuvamsa, karya berbahasa Sanskerta yang termasyur. Dalam kakawin ini, sang pujangga memanfaatkan cerita yang menjadi sumbernya untuk melukiskan dan membahas kehidupan di alam Jawa pada masanya. Dalam buku Sumanasantaka; Mati karena Bunga Sumanasa karya Mpu Mpu Monaguna ini, para penulis mempersembahkan suntingan dan terjemahan kakawin karangan Mpu Monaguna, dengan menyertakan pendahuluan mengenai penyuntingan naskah-naskah dan sejarah kakawin ini maupun ceritanya, terutama dalam kaitan dengan Raghuvamsa. Teks dan terjemahan dilengkapi dengan komentar berupa keterangan panjang lebar atas masalah-masalah yang dihadapi para penulis dalam menafsirkan teks.
Visual Media in Indonesia
This book focuses on the visual media, one of the key factors in shaping the contemporary ecology of colliding environments, in the fourth most populous country in the world, Indonesia. Peranakan Chinese communities and their “hybrid” culture have fascinated many observers. This book, comprising fourteen chapters, was mainly based on papers written by the author in the last two decades. The chapters address Peranakan Chinese cultural, national and political identities in the Malay Archipelago, i.e., Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (IMS). This book is divided into two parts.
