Artificial Intelligence and Human Enhancement
The technological innovations that have made "learning" computers possible are being met with utopian hopes as well as apocalyptic apprehensions. Will AI research eventually lead to software systems that have consciousness and are capable of autonomous decision making? The essays challenge "strong AI" from the perspective of human agency and moral judgment, explain the categorical difference between vulnerable humans and AI devices, and discuss diverse forms of applied AI, such as prograns of natural language processing, computional creativity, neuroenhancement, and the use of AI in international healthcare. Authenticity
Today, authenticity is considered an essential part of manifold interpersonal relationships, actions, and agreements. Authenticity’s association with sincerity, honesty, and reliability not only normatively charges the term in the context of social coexistence, but also makes it a demand which we impose on ourselves: The success of our lives is measured decisively by whether we live in harmony with our own convictions, wishes and needs. In philosophy, authenticity has also become the focus of interest, both in the context of the mechanisms of self-knowledge, as well as of personal development. The anthology aims to expand the cooperation across disciplines, in order to develop a comprehensive and profound understanding of authenticity, not by over-simplifying the highly complex subject, but by approaching the underlying concept from different scientific perspectives.

Der religionsphilosophische Diskurs hat durch die Auseinandersetzung mit dem amerikanischen Pragmatismus wichtige Impulse erhalten. Bevor es dazu kommen konnte, musste die in der Rezeption der Klassiker des Pragmatismus lange vorherrschende Fixierung auf die wissenschaftstheoretischen und ethischen Aspekte überwunden werden. Der österreichische Philosoph Ludwig Nagl hat entscheidend zur Neubewertung der religionsphilosophischen Ansätze im Pragmatismus beigetragen. Dieser Band ist eine Hommage an Ludwig Nagl. Autorinnen und Autoren aus verschiedenen Ländern und Kontinenten bewegen sich in ihren Texten innerhalb zweier sich überschneidender Themenkreise, die im Werk des Jubilars einen zentralen Raum einnehmen: Religionsphilosophie und amerikanischer Pragmatismus.
