Cornelius Van Schaick (b. 1610) of Woerden, Utrecht, Netherlands, emigrated to New Netherlands (New York) in 1636. He married Belitje Hendrickse; they had four children. The surname has some 130 variant spellings, including Van Schoick and Vanschoik. Their fourth great- grandson, William Henry Van Schoik (1854-1927) married Emma Jane Bibler (1865-1923), daughter of Abraham Bibler and Elizabeth Stuter, in 1883.
