This book features the proceedings of the 8th International Conference of the International Association of Cultural and Digital Tourism (IACuDiT). Held on the Hydra Island in Greece in September 2021, the conference's lead theme was “Transcending Borders in Tourism through Innovation and Cultural Heritage”. Highlighting the contributions made by numerous writers to the advancement of tourism research, this book presents a critical academic discourse evolving tourism products and services. It also deals with strategies that help stimulate economic innovation and growth, and promote knowledge transfer. Selected chapters also deal with innovation, creativity, and change management in all aspects of tourism, culture, and heritage. A crucial focus is also placed on embracing ICT as a powerful development tool along with strategies and campaigns for smart tourism. Galician Migrations: A Case Study of Emerging Super-diversity
This focused case study analyses the roots of super-diversity in a place where immigration is an emerging phenomenon, Northwestern Spain (Galicia). It is characterized by a mostly rural population, an aging demographic, and a historically depressed economy. Yet the region has recently experienced a significant increase in immigration - a reversal of the region’s historically pronounced trend of emigration. To understand immigration in its early stages, this book takes a historical approach that focuses on diversities that go beyond nationality. It explores local yet international phenomena such as different patterns of return migration, transnational community and familial relationships, and niche labour markets. The book takes a broad interdisciplinary perspective, drawing on sociology, anthropology, history, sociolinguistics, literature, and education, to provide a detailed case study analysis. While the case is specific, many other geographic regions will share some of the factors the book explores. Understanding how these factors interact will provide a useful point of contrast for analysing them in a range of other international contexts.
Global Histories of the Portuguese Revolution
The Portuguese revolution marked the closure of the country's five-centuries of imperial history as well as its 48-year authoritarian period, a dramatic moment of political radicalization and social conflict that took place against the backdrop of rapid social transformation in an increasingly globalised world. This collection goes beyond the limits of national history to locate the revolution at the intersection of transnational historical phenomena such as the long 1960s, the Cold War, the emergence of the 'Third World' and postwar modernization. Foregrounding the complex geographies and chronologies of semi-peripheral Portugal, this book combines its status as the centre of a global Empire with its subaltern position in Europe. Offering a new, global, approach to this still understudied event, chapters explore transnational socialist and grassroots forms of solidarity, processes of global communication and Cultural Revolution, decolonization, feminism, and socio-economic transformations to offer a non-Eurocentric global history from within Europe itself.

The Revolution before the Revolution
Histories of Portugal’s transition to democracy have long focused on the 1974 military coup that toppled the authoritarian Estado Novo regime and set in motion the divestment of the nation’s colonial holdings.
